Ireland-specific context
What's different about gambling debt in Ireland
The Gambling Regulation Act 2024 established the Authority for Gambling Regulation and Applications in Ireland (AGRAI). If you experienced harm from a licensed operator, AGRAI handles complaints. Ireland's gambling landscape is actively being reformed, and new protections are coming.
The Money Advice and Budgeting Service is Ireland's free national debt advice service. A MABS advisor can contact creditors on your behalf, help you access the Debt Relief Notice or Insolvency Arrangement process, and create a realistic repayment plan. Call 0818 07 2000 or walk into your local office.
Ireland has three formal debt resolution processes: Debt Relief Notices (small debts under €35,000), Debt Settlement Arrangements, and Personal Insolvency Arrangements. MABS or the Insolvency Service of Ireland (ISI) can advise which applies to your situation, and no solicitor is required to enquire.
